The Zodiac Room by Neiman Marcus
New York City
Bringing back the power (shopping) lunch.
The Brief
The first Zodiac Room at the original Neiman Marcus in Dallas has served lunch to the elegant women of Texas since the 1960s. For Hellen Corbit, the celebrated chef and cookbook author who pioneered the department store’s food program, it was where her culinary vision came to life. Reimagining the concept for the Neiman Marcus flagship at Hudson Yards, the goal was to celebrate the rich history of ‘ladies who lunch’ in an updated, New York style.
The Approach
The world of retail has changed drastically over the past few decades, but certain stores, like Neiman Marcus, remain timeless. There is no substitution for the sense of discovery, knowledgeable expertise, and social shopping experience the department store offers. The Zodiac Room sought to bring these elements into an effortlessly elegant restaurant. Inspired by the enduring, alluring night sky and the aspirational luxury shopper, the brand invites guests to step into the rich and glamorous world of Neiman Marcus: past, present, and future.
